Christine’s Upcycling Challenge
Do you have a garment you love that no longer fits you but you keep it anyway? Do you hoard old linens, precious textiles and vintage supplies just in case you might find a use for them one day?
If the answer is yes to either one or both of these questions, now’s your chance do something about it as upcycling expert and fashion designer Christine Mayer is throwing down a challenge. Christine wants to upcycle your pre-loved garments and textiles and magically transform them into unique, wearable pieces - men’s or women’s clothing from any age or in any state, colour or fabric will qualify.
Christine first made her name recycling Germany military jackets and transforming them into fashionable and desirable garments. You’d be amazed with what she can do with a couple of men’s shirts and an old tea towel! Find out more about Christine at intothelight.de
So delve into your trunks, rifle through your closets and send us photos of any item you’d like to see Christine upcycle. We’re looking for four items altogether which Christine will upcycle during our Draping and Upcycling Retreat in Brighton from 5-13 June 2020.
How it works:
1. Tell us about your garment or textile and send a photo on the form below.
2. Christine chooses her three favourite entries to upcycle.
3. Christine will upcycle the garments in June during our Upcycling Retreat.
Send us some photos and a short description of the garment or textile you'd like Christine to upcycle. Closing date for submissions is 10 May 2020. We’ll select the winners soon after that date. The lucky winners send us the garments or textiles for Christine to upcycle in June. We will return your beautifully transformed and upcycled garments by the end of June.
